When trying to make the most of your credit, it is important to have a low cost credit card. This will aid you in building your credit without going broke. Many credit card companies charge fees for the privilege of owning a credit card. Those fees can be eliminated at the discretion of the credit card company. You can start to remove those fees by asking the card issuer for no yearly fee and for an introductory rate. The yearly fee is sometimes waived to lure the card holder to use the card more often. Better than the yearly fee being waived would be an offer of an introductory rate. For instance an introductory rate may be offered at 6.5% interest for 6 months. The credit card issuer uses that limited time offer and low interest rate to keep you using the card and to keep the balance high. The credit card issuer hopes that the card holder will use more credit because of the lower interest rate. Many times the card holder will also move around balances from other credit cards which also allows the card issuer to make more money from interest.
The best way to eliminate the interest associated with your balance is to continuously ask for an introductory rate. These special rates usually expire every 6 months. So just before it expires you can ask for an extension. When you achieve lower interest rates you can pay off the credit card balance much quicker. I have used this principle numerous times. I have even called 17 times in over a few week period asking for an introductory rate, only to be told "No" until the 18th time. Persistence is the key when dealing with creditors. Remember the worst they can say is "No".
A powerful strategy to build credit is to get 3 to 4 good accounts. Don't try to get too much credit because that can hurt you. Too little credit won't help you either. The lenders, creditors, and even loan officers want to see that you have a good history at paying at least 3 accounts on time. Don't have less than 3 good accounts because then you may not have enough credit for a bigger credit purchase. It takes time to build your credit so plan on paying on time, keeping a low balance, and not charging over your credit limit for about 18 months. By following that advice you can be assured that your credit score will go up. It will also show in stability in making payments on time which helps in getting those lower interest rates that everybody wants so desperately.
Since you are now on the road to good credit keep 3 to 4 accounts open so you can build a good credit profile. Remember the final lender or the decision makers for your loan may never see you, but they will see your credit. Decision makers for lenders like to see less risk to the creditor. The lender just wants to be paid back with interest and without having collection activities involved to get their money back. What level of risk you are will be determined by your income, bills and credit scores. Credit scores really being the most important because with a high enough credit score the lender will over look problems when lending. When getting credit it is important to remember keeping credit card balances low is one activity that will help raise your credit score. Always remember that the more credit you have the more that creditors and lenders will want to lend you. That is as long as you keep those balances low and payments on time.
If you have less than perfect credit you may need to get secured credit cards. These secured credit cards are easy to get. The reason that these credit cards are easy for everybody to get is that there is no risk for the bank. For instance you would put up $250 for security then you can have a secured credit card with a $250 available credit limit. You make payments just like a normal credit card for 12 to 24 months. At the end of that time period the secured credit card turns into a unsecured credit card. Most credit card companies then return the deposit. Apply for 3 to 4 accounts at the same time, keep the payments current and soon you'll have great credit. This can take you from having no credit or bad credit to having fairly good credit in that 12 to 24 month period.
Jump start your credit by using a method is called piggybacking credit. It is in essence loaning someone your credit without the risk of co-signing. Typically it is used when a parent wants to establish credit for a child. This gives the child an advantage at starting life off in the real world. The parent places the child on an account to help build the child's credit. The great news is it isn't limited to parents piggybacking their credit. It can be a friend, family, next door neighbor, or even a boss. By piggybacking the account will show the original date it was opened on the credit borrower's credit report. Therefore, if a credit card was 10 years old, the borrower's credit report now shows an account to be 10 years old. This gives the borrower an immediate track record of credit. The borrower's credit score immediately goes up. This is an amazing way to really jump start your credit and helps in qualifying for homes, cars, and even recreational vehicles.

Freedom of choice
WOMEN, FREEDOM OF CHOICE and CONTRACEPTION?
by Diepiriye S. Kuku-Siemons
In examining the issue of freedom of choice, several factors must be taken into account. An Indian woman's reproductive decisions are influenced by societal factors which include the social, political and economic context in which she lives and the gender norms that shape her life. Also to be taken into consideration is a woman's life cycle stage and other socio-demographic characteristics that govern her contraceptive use, her childbearing experience and the three domains of her life - family, community and individual.
The majority of women in India are married off at a young age, sometimes even before they are able to understand the bodily changes that accompany puberty. As soon as she is married, family members pressured her to prove her fertility by getting pregnant before the first year of her marriage has lapsed. In most cases, if her first issue is female, she is again subjected to great pressure to produce a male progeny. This vicious cycle of events hinders a woman from educating herself about contraceptive use, the choices available to her, the methods she can use to effectively space her children and how she can conserve her own health, maintain a balance between household chores and child-bearing and manage her various roles effectively to the satisfaction of her husband, in-laws, and herself.
Whether she is an urban woman or from a rural area, she is most likely unaware that she can seek advice from her doctor. This is mainly due to a lack of awareness since most government programmes and campaigns are run sporadically. Moreover, there is little involvement of private practitioners in educating/ counseling a woman on her reproductive health options.
Only a very limited number of Indian women have the opportunity to choose whether or when to have a child. Women, particularly women in rural areas, do not have access to safe and self-controlled methods of contraception. The public health system emphasizes permanent methods like sterilization, or long-term methods like IUD's that are provider dependent and require trained (health personnel). In fact, sterilization accounts for more than 75% of total contraception, with female sterilization accounting for almost 95% of all sterilizations. (Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, 2001)
The idea of contraception is that it should be seen as a pillar of reproductive health rather than a means of population stabilization. Ideally, it should include spacing, safety and the health of mother and child. Presently, a plethora of contraceptive methods that are available India, with newer options intermittently introduced. There are oral pills (both low dose combined oral contraceptives and progestin-only contraceptives), the DMPA injectable contraceptive (which is excellent for mid-term spacing),Norplant implants, Intrauterine Devices (IUD's), condoms, vaginal creams and spermicides, and terminal methods such as female sterilization and vasectomy. Users have a range of methods of contraceptives from which to choose. But the question is, 'Can they make an informed choice? 'This means, when a person makes a freely thought-out decision based on accurate, useful information, it is called informed choice. How many couples have access to such information?
There are multiple benefits from informed choices: People use contraceptives longer if they choose the methods for themselves; access to a range of methods makes it easier for users to choose a method they like and to switch to other methods whenever needed. What's more, this process initiates a trusting partnership between users and providers and enables individuals and families to take more responsibility for their own health.
To make informed choices, people need ample, easy to grasp information about methods of contraception. An informed choice requires access to a range of methods and support for individual choice from social policies and community practices. The outcome should be a free, informed, conscious decision by the individual about whether or not she or he desires to obtain contraceptive services, and if so, what method or procedure she or he will choose and consent to receive!
The solution lies in providing information on safe, effective and tested contraceptive methods that have been used successfully in countries throughout the world. It also means a concerted effort by medical practitioners in the public and private sectors to disseminate correct, comprehensive and user-friendly information to women in the child-bearing age about the contraceptive options available to them. It further requires greater male participation in matters of maternal health, spacing and contraception as well as respectful dialogue amongst partners. Finally, it means that limiting family size is not the only objective, rather, complete reproductive health should be the target - which includes safe pregnancy, the well-being of mother and child, spacing options which allow a woman to plan her family effectively, general gynecological care, protection from sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) and their proper diagnosis and treatment. An underlying factor is improvement of the quality of counseling services to help women understand their reproductive requirements.
The increasing number of abortions proxy as evidence of widespread unmet needs for contraceptive methods and their apparent unavailability or inaccessibility. Therefore, the need for more options is already imperative. Meeting these needs permits women to exercise their reproductive rights and choose appropriate options from a basket of contraceptive choices.
A Guide To General Female Health
A number of novels and stories of the early 18th and 19th centuries often portray women as mad and irrational beings, thus, espousing the creation of mad women literature. But, modern medicine dispels this "mad" attribute. By establishing that women's hormones are more sensitive and susceptible to change than that of men, more attention is given to female health. Menstruation, menopause, PMS, and perimenopause - these are all part and parcel of general health topics related to women. Aside from that similarity of being part of female health, these phenomena are due to one thing: hormonal changes. Hormones are fickle, they change with the slightest variation in diets or physical activity. Sometimes even emotional upheavals are enough to make women's hormones go haywire. Researchers on female health come up with studies on the relationship of female psycho-emotional well-being and their physical health. More often than not, hormones are the established links between this relationship.
Hormonal imbalances are the usual culprits for a number of health disorders in women. Although some of the symptoms are associated with other illnesses, their root remains to be unbalanced hormones. As varied as general health topics are, they range from physical manifestations to psychological and emotional troubles. Physical manifestations of hormonal imbalances include fatigue, weakness, weight gain, weight loss, digestive problems, hot flashes, and joint pain. Other symptoms are more pronounced and less insidious like hair loss and dry skin. Unfortunately, with the demands of career and family life, women often ignore these symptoms as merely due to excess work and overall tiredness. Some attempt to cure their symptoms with remedies and rest that do not work. Hormonal imbalances need medical attention and hormonal supplements to be treated properly. Otherwise, symptoms grow worse with heart palpitations, increased nausea, urinary dysfunction, breast pain, and vaginal dryness. Extreme cases even include changes in menstrual periods with the affected person either suffering from extended periods and bleeding or have total absence of periods.
If the symptoms and conditions above are bad enough, they are just the hormonal imbalances' physical aspect. Usually cropping up as manifestations of other psychological disorders, the psycho-emotional aspect of these imbalances are often disruptive. There are documented cases wherein afflicted persons confess of being unable to function at their normal level because of the symptoms. Some of the minor symptoms include cravings and mood swings. However, if the symptoms do not receive treatment, they progress to worse conditions like lack of sexual desire, depression, insomnia, and unclear reasoning. It's no wonder that general health topics and concerns about women often include well-being exercises.
But, these imbalances are not permanent afflictions. With proper diet, exercise, supplements, and counseling, women are able to get their hormones back on track. However, early detection is a key factor in treating hormonal imbalances. It is therefore important not to dismiss the symptoms as just belonging to general health topics or issues. Hormonal imbalances are not just topics -- they are real, and they happen to more women everyday.
